Start of Onsite Support Activities at Early Grade Reading and Mathematics Initiative (RAMP) 2016-03-01 Count of read 1181

Onsite support activities began mid-February at the Early Grade Reading and Mathematics Initiative (RAMP) schools where early-grade-teachers receive onsite support in their schools provided by 37 coaches from CADER coaches in collaboration with 34 Ministry of Education supervisors. Every participating teacher will have six visits over the second semester (February 2016 - May 2016). It is noteworthy that the onsite support comes after the participating teachers completed a five-day-training course during January/February 2016 during which the RAMP team trained more than 2000 teachers from 544 schools in nine Educational Field Directorates that fall under the first cohort of training. Training took place for two weeks in 56 training sections at 13 training locations. The training team consisted of 37 RAMP coaches from CADER in collaboration with 34 Ministry of Education supervisors. Teacher training lasted for five days for each section (depending on geographical distribution). The five training days covered assessing the basic skills of students in reading and math, and working on developing plans for the implementation of the necessary activities for the development of these skills.
